GoalVertex is the data controller for all personal information collected through this website. The GoalVertex website is operated at goalvertex.com and is intended for use by adults aged 18 and over. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, or if you want to exercise any of your rights under UK GDPR, please contact us at hello@goalvertex.com. This privacy policy applies to all pages of the GoalVertex website and was last updated in March 2026.
Our Privacy Policy
GoalVertex does not require you to create an account or register in any way to use the site. Because of this, the personal data we collect is limited. When you visit GoalVertex we automatically collect certain technical information through our analytics and server systems. This includes your IP address, the browser and device type you are using, the pages you visit on our site, the time and date of your visit, the website or search engine that referred you to us, and how long you spend on each page. This information is collected automatically and is used solely to help us understand how the site is used and to improve it. If you contact us by email, we collect the name and email address you provide along with the content of your message. We do not collect any payment information because GoalVertex is entirely free to use.
GoalVertex uses cookies to help the site function and to understand how visitors use it. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We use strictly necessary cookies that are required for the site to work properly, analytics cookies that help us understand traffic patterns and improve the site, and advertising cookies placed by our display advertising partners. You can control cookie settings through your browser at any time. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a cookie is being set. Please be aware that refusing certain cookies may affect how some parts of the site work. You will see a cookie consent notice when you first visit GoalVertex where you can manage your preferences.
We use the technical data collected automatically through your visit to analyse how GoalVertex is used, identify which pages and tip types are most popular, diagnose technical problems, and improve the experience for all visitors. This processing is based on our legitimate interests as a website operator. If you send us an email, we use the information you provide to respond to your message and, where relevant, to action any request you have made such as a league coverage request or a correction report. We do not use your email address to send you marketing material unless you have explicitly asked us to. We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes under any circumstances.
GoalVertex uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the site. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our pages. Google Analytics collects anonymised usage data and operates under its own privacy policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy. We display advertising through third-party advertising networks who may place cookies on your device and collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your cookie settings or through the Google Ad Settings page. We use a third-party email provider to manage enquiries sent to our inbox. Emails you send us are stored securely on that provider's servers in accordance with UK GDPR requirements. We do not use any third-party service that has access to personally identifiable information beyond what is strictly necessary for that service to function.
We keep analytics data for a period of 26 months, after which it is automatically deleted by our analytics provider. This is the standard retention window recommended by the ICO for website analytics and gives us enough historical data to identify meaningful trends in site usage. Emails you send to us are kept for as long as they remain relevant to the purpose for which you sent them. General enquiries are typically archived after 12 months. If you ask us to delete your email correspondence, we will do so promptly unless we are required by law to retain it. Server access logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes and are then deleted automatically.
Under UK GDPR you have several rights in relation to your personal data. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, the right to have inaccurate data corrected, the right to request that we delete your data in certain circumstances, the right to object to us processing your data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis, the right to restrict processing of your data in certain situations, and the right to data portability where technically feasible. To exercise any of these rights, please email us at hello@goalvertex.com with a clear description of your request. We will respond within 30 days as required by UK GDPR. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
GoalVertex takes data security seriously. The site is served entirely over HTTPS, meaning all data transmitted between your browser and our server is encrypted. We use reputable hosting providers with strong physical and network security controls, and we regularly review and update our security practices. Access to any system that handles personal data is restricted to authorised team members only. We do not store sensitive personal data such as financial information, identity documents, or passwords because we do not offer account-based services. In the unlikely event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and affected individuals without undue delay, as required by UK GDPR.
We review this privacy policy at least once a year and whenever there are material changes to how we collect or use data. When we make significant changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page and, where appropriate, post a notice on the GoalVertex homepage. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continuing to use GoalVertex after a policy update has been published constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you have questions about any change we have made, please reach out to us at hello@goalvertex.com and we will be happy to explain.
